Jan 6 UPDATE:  I Album is now completely translated into English here.  ......Kinki Kid's I album topped the Oricon charts in the first day of sale December 13 and I expect it to be the top selling album for the week also since they haven't produced an album for a long time.  I have translated eight of the songs into English at breakneck speed today (that was last Thursday but I tried to post this review 3 times before my state was knocked out of power and I was living for five days without power ) and when the Chinese translations for the rest of the songs surface, I'll finish them.  Go here. I've translated all the three songs for the Solitude album and you could find it here at my forum. This is quite a special single because Koichi composed and wrote the lyrics for Solitude, an extremely good song on his part and for Kinki Kids and extremely popular since it was written for REMOTE, the last major TV series of 5 years ago that Koichi did.  Koichi has since not made any full TV series except a special one episode a couple of months ago, which is very sad for his fans because he is a very good actor.  REMOTE got to be the drama where he is the most chic. I read today in an old article that the original author of the story went to Johnny's Entertainment to convince them to let Koichi star in it because the writer wrote it specifically with Koichi in mind.  Only Koichi could look so conflicted...poor guy...But oh so chic.  The bonus song 5x9=63 is composed by Koichi and the lyrics is by Tsuyoshi. Fun song but nevertheless, not long lasting like Solitude which has a soul to it.  In the top 600 singles of the 21st century, this single ranked 143rd and sold 328,362 copies.

I have also posted all Japanese lyrics, links to romanizations and English translations to E Album at my forum here. The E album is a totally different animal. These two boys' songs suddenly become more sensual without the at times getting nowhere feeling of many Johnny's Entertainment young boy groups fast tunes and their voices have opened up tremendously!!   If you are a new fan, start collecting from E Album onwards. Koichi said that for year 2001, Tsuyoshi's composition 100 Year Love was his favorite of all the songs they sang and he could see Tsuyoshi has changed recently ...perhaps due to the power of love.   It could be possible that during 2001, Tsuyoshi did have a love. If you read the lyrics of that song, it has explicit sexual imagery at the end already.  As I go through their songs and lyrics, you could really see the growth of these two boys.  Koichi's favorite composition So Young Blues is in this album too and you could see the sexual innuendos in it  though he didn't write the lyrics.  You could sample them here or here.  My favorites are 百年ノ恋 / 100 Year Love,  情熱 / Passion,  月光/ Moonlight. 

With the help of a couple members, we have completed the translation of the Mirror Album into English here. The Japanese lyrics are posted too. What's remaining is the romanizations.  Feel free to visit.  Remember not to repost our work.

Of the entire album, Tsuyoshi and Koichi both wrote one solo of their own fitting of their age back then, talking about holding hands and embracing the girl.  Nothing like what it is now - sexually charged.  Tsuyoshi's was 十ニ月 / December, Koichi's was 永遠の日々/ holding Endless Days. My favorite got to be Tsuyoshi's solo and もう君以外愛せない　/ I Can't Love Anyone But You. When they sing together, their voices complement each other so well.  These two belong together. Also up is the Japanese lyrics, romanizations and English translations for this Kinki Kids B album here.  I have translated three songs by myself especially Track 4 MY WISH by Koichi Domoto.  But thank goodness this super site I link you to did the rest.  This album was as bad as A Album. The only saving grace is the last song Track 13 Glass No Shounen/ Glass Boy / 硝子の少年.  To this day, Koichi himself thought this was the most eventful song for them and it is the highest selling single of all times for Kinki Kids at 1.7 million copies.  

Kinki Kids C Album Japanese lyrics, romanizations and English translations are up at this link. Well, out of 13 songs, I like 4 of them. Track 4, 7, 9, 13.  They are much hipper and Tsuyoshi's voice came in much clearer. Koichi's voice was still squeaking like a little chick.  So if you like those tracks, it might be worth buying.  But don't forget they have Kinki Kids Selection 1 (2000)  album too which contains these four songs too. These early compilations were still so bad that they have to shortlist even more songs for the picky fans like me.

I wouldn't have survived translating this album by myself because the songs are god darn awful except Koichi's solo (Track 4 Boku Ga Omou/ I think), a bearable track 7, Hitori Ja Nai/  You're not alone and track 9 Friends. Must be crazy fans who bought this album!  I have also opened the lyrics section for guests to view so that it would bring my ranking higher for Kinki Kids search. So if you are only looking for lyrics, you don't need to register.  But if you want to comment, request, or look indepth into the life of Kinki Kids through the many articles and programs I translate into English, those still require registration.

I have finally watched more in detail the concert. Gosh, I was bowed over when I saw Koichi's expression doing So Young Blues. OMG...*faint* But on the whole, I am enjoying all the MA appearances and the stage work. The multi-angles are interesting in some of them. I haven't finished yet because I keep being stalled by Unbreakable. Koichi and MA could really kick the Jr. butts with their rendition. The more I think about it, the more I think Koichi has a great mind to compose every song of this concert to be danceable to his style and to sing in his range and still have the music pulsing through the concert hall with ommph. Kudos to him for this. Enough said. Now onto over 360 screencaps that I have condensed to 64 or so in two slideshows for you all.

Mind you, his clothes are probably hot and stuffy, at times scratchy, at times stiff and he still danced and sang in them. I see his sweat coursing down throughout the concert. Phew! And yes, if you notice I have screencapped a lot of Yara from MA, that's because I'm totally fascinated by his hair, how it is styled and color. It is perfect that all of them have some blonde or brown hair because sometimes they danced in the dark and the lighting helps focus on their beautiful hair. And I also have to say that Koichi is incredible in the way he flip his hair back. He knows how to catch female attention. That's all I could say...hehehe...

Alright, I do have the book of their first year's broadcast and when I'm in the mood, I'll try to translate it.  But this week I found some Koichi selections in print form in Chinese.  I'll upload only those with photos.  The rest are all Chinese characters and I wouldn't post those although I will translate them. Here is the first two pages. I've got one more section to translate.

  

This is Donnamonya collected episodes from 2001-2003, Koichi parts only. The preface to this section said that at times Koichi hosts the program by himself and it is very different from hosting it together with Tsuyoshi. When Tsuyoshi is there, Koichi is very relaxed as though he is hosting it at home.  When he hosts it by himself, he would be more tenacious about things.  Also when the two are together, Koichi would always be off topic but when he’s by himself, he is much more clearcut and handle the contents very well. In one word, a very cool big brother.

And also his topics often include himself and when he wants to address the audience, there are many topics of all varieties.  For example, once, for a certain festival topic, “If I have a daughter in future, the curfew would be 7 p.m. and I wouldn’t give her pocket money.” This is a topic that is very characteristic of Koichi.  In general, such words from him feels like instructional to the audience, but his gentle personality exudes and the listeners would not be bored or irritated. Plus he could fully express himself. This is actually a talent. Therefore, when Koichi conducts the program by himself, it is a totally different feeling, full of a different type of discovery and expectation.

2001 Jan

Last time at Donnamonya, Koichi said something like “when I sleep I like the feeling of iciness on my face and neck. Even if the weather is very cold, I wouldn’t turn on the heater and I would sleep naked.” If he doesn’t turn on the heater, I could understand but he doesn’t need to sleep naked.  Please don’t catch a cold.

This was this week’s postcard.  Of course it has to be naked! Once you are used to sleeping naked, when you are sleep with pajamas inside the covers, the pajamas would crumple up. That I dislike the most. Very strange? Would that be annoying? When you wear boxers and then wear jeans, wouldn’t the boxers be all crumpled up inside? The rationale for not wearing anything to bed follows the same logic! The same! Please try once to sleep naked. It would really feel very comfortable! Besides, the blankets in my home is changed into nice wooly warm ones during the winter! Wool is a good feel. Being naked under the blankets is really very comfortable! Besides sleeping naked is also very good for the body? Ah…but girls couldn’t do this. At least wear a panty. I heard that this is because they might be infected by bacteria, so they couldn’t be naked. Even if it is winter, as long as you hide inside the blankets, you wouldn’t feel cold.
