Geewhiz, this is really bad news for Rain. There is a band in the US called Rain and therefore they are putting an injunction to stop Rain from using his English name in the US tour. Rain has postponed his concerts for the moment because the case would be heard only on June 14. This is really bad. Source

Here's the movie that Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To directed. Well, the first time I see a trailer, about Louis Koo and two brothers. Louis Koo is a lazy  taxi driver tring to make it big. Realtor Simon Yam is going bankrupt and Sun Hong Lei is folding his antique business. Simon Yam's wife has a lover who is a policeman for whom Louis Koo is an informant.

•  The news have it that Chow Yun Fat's return to the set of Battle of Red Cliff is just rumors created by the production company. Zhang Li is already at the set doing that role that CYF was rumored to take.  Thank goodness.

Hmm, Yamapi's drama Kurosagi would be made into a movie for release next Spring. Not excited about it.  Junichi Okada is already doing a swindler movie soon, but Junichi's one seems to have more conflict in it because he would have turmoil trying to swindle his closed ones.  Kurosagi the drama is very lame. Song Seun Hun and Kwon Sang Woo would be making a new movie together called Destiny. SSH is to play a guy with split personality and KSW is  to play an ambitious guy with a tragic ending. It was reported that KSW wrote in his official site that he wasn't interested in SSH's role and so rejected the role.  The fans of SSH got totally agitated thinking that KSW was belittling their idol and then KSW's fans had a go at SSH's fans to the effect taht KSW has to apologize.

This movie according to some bloggers has poor special effects and yet it would be having worldwide release in 2007 August and this is a first for a Korean film. The story is about a humongous serpent crashing through Los Angeles. Sounds like great fun for my kids.  Here's the official site with the teaser or you could watch it at youtube here.  This director specializes in sci fi and his last movie was Yonggary in 1999 - another monster tramping through cities. You could watch a fan made video here. In fact this fan has many monster videos. Wait till my youngest ones see these.

I was talking to my husband yesterday about why we like the Korean drama Ballad of Seodong so much compared to most TV dramas and period movies we have seen in the last 4 years and even more than Jumong.  It's because the Ballad of Seodong imparts a wish of an emperor-to-be to develop a nation of technology and progress, unrivaled by anyone and in its course, he had to overcome neverending obstacles to become emperor.  Compared to his hardship, we as viewers could understand how miniscule our daily troubles are. That is what is so neat about this drama series.

Jumong is a drama about how Jumong ascended the throne through constant shifting of political alliances but the drama concentrated on the warring aspect of the Three Kingdoms. Now that we have watched the Ballad of Seodong, we realize how much richer the Ballad of Seodong drama is.

There has been netizens complaining that the armor of Andy's looks Japanese but the director explained that everything shown in his movie is researched and totally based from China. Understandable for the misconception. Japan derived a lot of its culture from China too. The director said that he is not worried that his movie would clash with the Battle of Red Cliff because the Three Kingdoms have so much material to draw on that even if 100 films are made, there would still be plenty to go around.

To that, let me say one thing. I have been discussing with my husband just yesterday how restricted Chinese epics and period costume piece are. The discussion is here.

Recently I have posted about Spiderman 3 having to be sent all over the world in portions and the last portion to arrive just in time for showing to prevent anyone from having a full copy for piracy purpose. The article also named Canada as the origin of many pirated copies because Canada does not have a law against people videotaping the movie. Today, the news reported that the good old days for piracy is over, at least in the theatres. Canada now forbids camcording in theatres without the consent of the theatre owner and it could carry a sentence of 2 years or 5 years if used for commercial purposes.

The following article tells that Hong Kong directors are now mindful of their subject matter and the treatment of it so that it could pass the censors in China for mainland release. Nevertheless, they try to keep it with a Hong Kong flavor.

This is going to be a movie that I am looking forward to when it will be released in 2008. The story will be in 1930's Manchuria when the Koreans are being displaced by the Japanese army and a train robber attained a treasure map while an unknown person saves him not knowing that he is a bounty hunter ready to turn him in for a reward. In the meantime, a third guy is out looking for the treasure map too. There is promise of intensive gunplay and I of course would love to watch the cold blooded Jung Woo Sung against the possibly mean Lee Byung Hun.
