Mirror Concert DVD review

I have finally watched more in detail the concert. Gosh, I was bowed over when I saw Koichi's expression doing So Young Blues. OMG...*faint* But on the whole, I am enjoying all the MA appearances and the stage work. The multi-angles are interesting in some of them. I haven't finished yet because I keep being stalled by Unbreakable. Koichi and MA could really kick the Jr. butts with their rendition. The more I think about it, the more I think Koichi has a great mind to compose every song of this concert to be danceable to his style and to sing in his range and still have the music pulsing through the concert hall with ommph. Kudos to him for this. Enough said. Now onto over 360 screencaps that I have condensed to 64 or so in two slideshows for you all.

Mind you, his clothes are probably hot and stuffy, at times scratchy, at times stiff and he still danced and sang in them. I see his sweat coursing down throughout the concert. Phew! And yes, if you notice I have screencapped a lot of Yara from MA, that's because I'm totally fascinated by his hair, how it is styled and color. It is perfect that all of them have some blonde or brown hair because sometimes they danced in the dark and the lighting helps focus on their beautiful hair. And I also have to say that Koichi is incredible in the way he flip his hair back. He knows how to catch female attention. That's all I could say...hehehe...

Posted May 20, 2007:I have to say that this is an even better concert that 2004's 1/2 concert. Koichi said that he mainly emphasized on singing and there's less show to it in the beginning. It's not true. He gave a nice surprise. Even though I have a couple of fan videos, I didn't watch them in detail because I want to be surprised. And true enough, nothing beats an official release. The editing is so good.

When they first appeared for Deep in the Heart, I wanted so much to have Koichi keep his red drape on. It looks so much more wild that way. But what I really enjoy is MA wearing nearly the same outfits and make it a wild bunch. I still think this is a great opening song.

UNBREAKABLE really made me sit up. OMG, MA singing together with him was almost like a boys' band voice altogether. I was so happy to see them functioning together like that...OMG...an adult boy band that is truly high quality. None of that Kat-Tun background dancing, none of the can't hold a tune of other JE groups...When I heard their voices together, it is so good!!!! I really want them together more than anything else, to be honest. This Koichi-MA combination is so clean, so healthy and energetic that it is like the ideal boy band for older kids. Throughout the performance, I can't help thinking how slovenly Tsuyoshi is compared to Koichi. Koichi is such a kirakira (shimmering glittery) star. Even his clothes matches him so well.

Okay, so I didn't like the apron he wore, but now that I watch him from a far shot, it actually matches.

These are my favorite screencaps to share.

The stagework is beautiful. Actually even more impressive than the last concert. These are the things you can't watch on fan videos and that's why I don't even try.

The audience is great, really truly very responsive.

My favorite piece are Love Me More. It is so potent and MA is so close to him in this one. And when they did Addicted, I think there is no question it beats last year's mirror play. Absolutely beautiful!

And of course when MA sang WHY DONT YOU DANCE WITH ME, it is total wickedness.

I am actually playing these a few times. The first time is to watch Koichi but the second time, I start searching for angles of MA. I wish MA got to sing more but then it is Koichi's concert. But could you imagine if they have say KOICHI-MA group singing at final countdown as a group 3 or 4 songs together? OMG...it would be the highlight for a fan like me.

I haven't finished watching everything yet. But I have to say that Koichi is extremely in his own element and he owns the show, the space and the cheers. This is finally his own concert, his own compositions and he is no less than any other artist, especially, no less than Tsuyoshi anymore.

I don't think Kinki Kids would have the same effect as their respective solos anymore. They should concentrate on solo careers truly. And of course by me saying that, Kinki Kids fans at the forum are going to groan and perhaps a few more leave the forum. But I can't help thinking this way, nor will I hold back anymore. I don't really care whose toes I step on anymore, really. hahaha....I have learnt to enjoy Kinki Kids music on my own without having to talk about it anymore. I like their music but not their joint appearance. I like their individual work, and I like Koichi from top to bottom, song and dance and MA. Even when I delete my forum, this would not change.

hehe i giggled at your four nakais comment. even

from the caps i could sense the intensity of the

concert. and you're thinking of deleting your forum?!

ladyusagi  | 21/05/2007 03:21:06

I skipped through the pictures you posted and much of the review.

my copies arrived in the mail today but i haven't watched them

yet.

close the forum? hmm, i hope not too soon

i'm not in a good mood. i feel like saying what i've been holding in

for a while now. i agree with you, sort of, about KinKi. I'd like for

them to stay together as a group for as long is possible, but I

don't think I'd miss them being together as much as I thought I

would. As long as I can continue to "keep in touch" with Koichi's

works, whatever they'd be, I'll continue to support him and him

only. Tsuyoshi I could do without. Him I don't support at all. He's

been bugging me lately, these are my feelings only but, my

respect for Tsuyoshi has dropped A LOT. *shrugs* ah well, i don't

care these days. Koichi is my only focus. He always has been. He

always will be.

(duotiger)

ps i'm sorry. there are less and less places online these days where

i can say what i feel and not be harrassed for it.

guestgakinme  | 21/05/2007 22:42:26

One day, I would close the forum. You girls don't

expect me to do this day in day out for the rest of

my life, do you...hahaha...

Your feelings are totally understandable, duotiger.

I'm sure there are many who feel the same way too.

ladyusagi, I'm not kidding you. I'm thinking of

Nakai whenever I saw those four in those outfits.

Nakai's dance is hot!

gakinme  | 21/05/2007 23:20:37

no i don't expect you to do it forever. maybe when

the time comes you could offer the forum to another

person that might want to do it. that is, if people

are still interested in smap.

ladyusagi  | 22/05/2007 05:18:01

i totally agree with duotiger... but i am not sure if we have

the same reasoning. tsuyoshi and koichi do not go well together

anymore, both music-wise AND appearance-wise. their styles have

diverged.. and putting them back together as KinKi Kids feels so

strange because they aren't the same 18 yr. olds that formed

KinKi in the first place.

i was an extreme KinKi supporter.. saying this kinda breaks my

heart.. but this is what's happening.

(your_girl)

PS. thank you for the screencaps =) i am gonna track down this

dvd no matter what... SUPPORT KOICHI!

guestgakinme  | 23/05/2007 01:43:09

Sandra,

I've said it in the forum, but I want to thank you

again for this very nice review. I've read a lot of

Japanese blogs on how the fans feel towards this DVD.

Everyone was beyond impressed by Koichi. Even though

I said I haven't got down to put my thoughts into

words, but I share your sentiments towards KinKi

Kids. See it as good and bad... their ability to

venture into solo careers have shown what they are

capable of individually, in fact their solo works

shine way above what KinKi is giving us currently. I

still enjoy KinKi music in my own way, but if you ask

me to say truly who I'm giving my full support,

without a doubt it's Koichi. Not to mention what

incredible support MA has been for Koichi all these

while. I've been noticing these boys ever since I see

the bond between MA and Koichi. They are so

irreplaceable, and could be the most formidable

entertainment group from JE. I just wish for more

chances for these boys to shine together.
