Geewhiz, this is really bad news for Rain. There is a band in the US called Rain and therefore they are putting an injunction to stop Rain from using his English name in the US tour. Rain has postponed his concerts for the moment because the case would be heard only on June 14. This is really bad. Source

Recently, Japan's weather has been topsy turvy and even two days ago, the rain has been pouring, but it didn't extinguish the passion of fans for "Rain". As the first Korean star to hold a concert in Tokyo Dome, two days ago, 43,000 fans came to watch him sing and dance for two hours doing 21 songs including It's Raining and Freeway, his first Korean Japanese works. The fans lined up for 3 hours in rain to enter the venue and scream to their hearts content. Apart from fans, SMAP members Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Nakai Masahiro, and even Shingo Katori who just came back from Cannes Film Festival, and even Kazuyoshi Miura, the soccer star, and 200 celebrities came to support Rain.  As for the press who came to cover, it was even more exaggerating. Over 100 Japanese and Asian TV stations, radio stations, magazines companies sent staff to cover and over 250 press members were there. This is some very rare grand occasion.

Rain's North American tour in June will include Toronto, Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. I'll post the booking site as soon as I have it. In the meantime, here is excerpt of the news here.

Rain's world tour organizer confirmed his North American tour schedule in June. Rain will first perform at the Molson Amphitheater in Toronto, Canada on June 9. Then his next concert will be staged at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on June 15, New York's Madison Square Garden on June 23, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on June 27,and the Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 30.

I'm a bit slow over here in watching clips and stuff. I just realized there are a lot of clips of his Vietnam ones just now, the Las Vegas concert here and Malaysia ones here.  OMG, I hear him speaking English...hahaha...good effort! good effort!!! Don't forget to watch this Vietnam interview from last year with English subs. He said, "I'm so darn popular..." It's for show but the effect is very cute!

Rain will be in Vietnam on March 10-11 and I can't believe fans are spending US$15-155 to buy a ticket to see him. That's a lot of money. But the priciest and best seats were snapped up by his 1000 Japanese fans who travel everywhere to see him. On the day, there would be 600 security guards and 60 youth volunteers! *faint* The most expensive concert ever held in Vietnam!! Source 1, 2, 3



Here is a great article about how they put the sticker of Rain on Korean airline. It costs US$20,000 for Rain to appear in one episode of TV series but it costs US$317,000 to put his image on Korean Airlines. Earlier,the image of Lee Young Ae of Jewel of the Palace was also a Korean aircraft for one year and it flies to cities where the show is broadcasted. Likewise, Korean Airlines fly this particular 747 to cities where Rain holds his concerts.

For those who are interested about his contract with JYP Entertainment, the expiry date will be coming in May.  Here's my translation of the news.


I think Rain should continue with JYP if JYP will offer that price. In the meantime, JY Park himself has written an article that he is not part of Korean Wave and he doesn't want to be one. He basically is writing African American music and has succeeded selling his music to Americans. For that, I think Rain should stick with him since Rain is equally interested in that type of music genre. Article is here.

Rain had chartered an airplane for his round the world tour and this is the image that was painted on the Korean Air. This is far out !!!


Tickets have been selling well everywhere.  Here is an article on his schedule. Rain is predicted by the Korean press that this would be his year!

Rain's world tour will kick off on Dec 15, 16 and the first stop would be in South Korea. Then to the US and then Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan. A total of 12 countries and important cities and totally 35 shows. Six months later, he will have grossed US$110 million.  Here is a preview of his "I'm Coming" World Concert Tour.
