How many foreign students are in the US, China?
This is another good article that I could draw figures on - Most Foreign Students in China are Korean. Out of the 184 foreign countries sending students to Chna, the majority are Koreans!!! There were 162,695 foreigners studying at 519 colleges and schools nationwide. (Thank goodness for these data. From the Western media, it almost sounds as though half of the US has gone to China to study Chinese....ROFL...)
Koreans 57,504
Japan 18,363
US 11,784
Vietnam 7,310
Indonesia 5,652
Liberal Arts 114,846
Chinese language 98,701
Arts 2,118
Medicine 20,355 (13,225 in Western medicine; 7,130 in Chinese medicine)
Economics 7,308
Now read this article. Over 70% of the Chinese students who goes overseas to study does not return to China. Not only because they may be adverse to the one child policy, it is because they face equally as much competition when they return plus, they have to have the right connections for jobs.
China fears brain drain as its overseas students stay put
