Jan 6 UPDATE:  I Album is now completely translated into English here.  ......Kinki Kid's I album topped the Oricon charts in the first day of sale December 13 and I expect it to be the top selling album for the week also since they haven't produced an album for a long time.  I have translated eight of the songs into English at breakneck speed today (that was last Thursday but I tried to post this review 3 times before my state was knocked out of power and I was living for five days without power ) and when the Chinese translations for the rest of the songs surface, I'll finish them.  Go here. Now back to the album. My review. Hahaha...my favorite part!!  Scroll down and read on...

Track 1
真冬のパンセis a fast song - an extremely good one, totally Kinki style. It should have been the title song for the 24th single of Kinki Kids and it would have sold 300,000 + copies instead of the present 234,000 copies in the first week. But no, they have to time it close to the full album release and put a slow song as title song. I bet the boys didn't want to dance at all the shows and opted for a slow song!  I don't buy the Christmas feel concept. Plus I tell you, with this DVD, the full version of the MV of Harmony of December is absolutely ridiculous. While the lyrics is about love and wanting to see a love, the blimp show is about time travel. Come on, JE. Whoever came up with that should be shot!  Next...

Track 2 -
藍色の夜風 a totally folklorish flavor. Nice song and even the lyrics are touching. Very romantic.  Both sang very well. It is just the right tone for both Tsuyoshi and Koichi.

Track 3 - SNOW!SNOW!SNOW! This is a 2005 song and along with the DVD came the H concert clip of this performance. To date, they haven't produced the DVD for the concert and so I would never know what it was like but as usual, Tsuyoshi's voice is impressive.  He sings and the whole concert hall resounds.  I pity Koichi who has to keep up in volume with him but nevertheless, Koichi kept up especially in the solo parts. When they sing together, of course, Tsuyoshi dominates.  But it doesn't matter because Tsuyoshi sings this song really well.  I appreciate more and more how high a pitch Koichi could sing compared to Tsuyoshi. In case you wonder, this Christmas song of last year sold 317,396 copies in terms of singles and ranks no. 22 in the top selling singles on Oricon chart for the year 2005-2006.  Better than Natsumoyo, Harmony of December, Deep in Your Heart.

Track 4 - iD -the World of Gimmicks I don't really care for this song.  The moment the 15th second hit, I was like OMG, what kind of trash is this. My good Lord, this is 2006, not 1980's Disco Duck era. What is the composer thinking? Who could still listen to such beats. Totally appalling.  Who is the smartass who chose this song anyway? Both boys?  Suggest you all skip this song.  I would not be surprised if no one translates it. I'm not eager.

Track  5 Love is the mirage...OM##$G...if you think track 4 was bad, this is even worse.  This composer is trying to imitate Tsuyoshi in his composition that it hurts so much. OMXYZG....hahaha...Tsuyoshi sounds like shit!  Absolute shit! Tsuyoshi, you sound like shit!  There, I've said it. I had a chance to rub it in his face...for allowing the management to give him this song, for choosing this song, for singing this song.  Psychedlic songs are out of fashion, mate! Especially discordant ones.  Let Tsuysohi write his own tune and it will sound 100 times better than this crap.  Please fast forward.

Track 6 futari This got to be the best song out of the entire album. And if the rest of the album falls apart, just this song alone is worth the album.  Not only that it is a totally Tsuyoshi styled song since he composed it (non-psychedelic but wonderously twirling and warm , feeling a certain embrace as I listen to it), if you look at the lyrics, it's beautiful. Koichi wrote the lyrics and it's not only because it's Koichi that I say it. But throughout the entire album, this lyrics is the most tender yet visual and vibrant.  You could merge the image of Tsuyoshi's Si concert with Koichi singing this gently by the side. OMG, I can't wait to see the two perform this song.  I hope there would be female dancers, lights darken, with only glowing neons of blue and green. Ten claps for this song.

Track 7 Get it on By the time it got to the fourth second, I was XXX$$### already. OMG, not another one of these outdated ones. If Koichi didn't sing Oh Oh through his nose at 0.16 min, I would have skipped this lame song.  Another 80's styled song. It is not hip at all. This Japanese composer seriously need to go to
Korea and learn from the Koreans if he wants to write hip and beat.  The lyrics are totally downright needy, lusty, in the act wanting to satisfy the girl. *faint* I suppose Kinki Kids are now grown up and could sing about intercourse in great details.  I used to turn pink while translating his lyrics but these days, I'm immune to it.  The lyricists is trying to tell us that Koichi is lusty and constantly thinking about sex. Fast Forward.  Okay okay, wait.  I will tell you that I could imagine how he would dance to this song. His signature move: lower arms at right angle to his head, swish it from left to right and roll his head a few times.  I demonstrated it to my daughter and I got dizzy right away.  I have to applaud Koichi for dancing with such agility and energy for 2-3 hours during concerts.  So a shitty song once in a while will not kill me.  I'll still buy your stuff, but don't make it a habit. Get Korean composers, for goodness sake. Or compose your own song! Your own compositions are so much better.

Track 8 Black Joke Amazingly, this song grows on you. It may sound like a normal Kinki Kid fast song but if you read the lyrics, it's about one acknowledging that he couldn't do without his partner and even though they have found another love, in the end, it's only that partner that means everything to him. So could they be together one more time. Amazing lyrics.  I have a feeling it is written especially for the two boys of their partnership. That they went outside of the relationship (solo efforts) and would come back one more time (Kinki Kids' 10th anniversary).  Interesting lyrics!

Track 9 Natsuymoya I didn't translate it to this day. Makes me fall asleep.

Track 10 Parental Advisory Explicit Content The title of this song stirred a lot of interest but the lyrics is okay. The song is okay. I like listening to Koichi singing with Tsuyoshi in this style. A mix of So Young Blues and Dekiai Logic. Not bad in that sense for I want to see that togetherness and merging of style of the two. This is more a Tsuyoshi styled song which is great because it's really drawing Koichi out of his ballad shell.

Track 11 Night+Flight  Can't really say I like this song but can't say I hate it. In Cantonese we have a saying, 交行貨, meaning handing in work that's common across the board. There is a slight kinki-ness to it but not enough punch like track 1. It's not a song that I would press the replay button and in fact more likely fast forward.

Track 12 Harmony of December I like this song even though the MV does not jive with the lyrics.

Track 13 Love is... いつもそこに君がいたから The is a beautiful song. Even the lyrics are beautiful. Koichi sang really well and so did Tsuyoshi although a tinge too loud. This is one song I think is what Kinki Kids represent - beauty!

I like this song although the MV is totally unrelated to the lyrics If you haven't bought the Kinki Kids I album and you don't care for the H concert clip of SNOW SNOW SNOW and the making of Harmony of December or the Harmony of December MV full version itself, then buy the regular version which has the beautiful Track 13 to hear how beautiful that song is in a superior system. In this album, I like track 1, 2, 3, 6, 12, 13. For one album, it is not bad to have so many songs I like.  Usuaully, most albums have at most two to three songs that I like.  When I have time, I'll put them in a CD-R of my own and do away with the rest for casual listening.  But Kinki Kids need to get away from pure passion and erotic lyrics soon. It gets tired after a while. As translator, I get tired too.  I hope they get to read this review one day.

Still waiting for my album to arrive from YesAsia.

After i read your reviews, i am anticipating more for it to arrive,

to see how good and bad are the songs.

Have to agree with ororo that G album is the best album that i

owned so far, in terms of the songs and the sequence that they are

arranged. Very pleasant to the ears. =)

I agree. G album to date was the best. I was taken

aback by the half crappiness of H album too.

*faints*
