Junichi Okada An An Magazine May 2007
Thanks to tommy for the scan and the translation of this article. I am impressed by Junichi's sense of purpose and justice in general.

No.68 I want to throw an impertial pass to the next generation.
I casually noticed this, people belong to the same generation as mine are very interesting just now.
They have become a working member of society for 4~5 years and sought what they can do, but just now, I suppose they actually have started to do what they can.
Born in 1980. We became 20years old in 2000, so-called the milennium generation.
" We were born with a sence of mission!" I excerted myself when I was a teenager, but in fact , it was a consciousness that occured in repulsiveness.
When I was a junior high school student, a five-day week was introduced and textbooks were completely changed. It was a revolution, Japan proposed an education that aims at development to indivisual talent rather than learning by rote.
On the other hand, there were so many incidents one after another like the collapse of class-room discipline and underage felony. Some words " kireru (snap)", " dreadful 14 years old" arose so that " Be aware of that generation" was the general opinion at that time.
We were avoided and remarked. For that reason, there has been a desire in my heart that wanted to be said by adults, " You guys, interesting."
I can have chances to see many adorable adults beacuse I'm in show biz, and I really wanted to be recognized by them when I was at high school.
In my twenties I had forgot the feeling for a while, but recently my feeling has been strong again in different points of view. I want to be an adult who can say to children without fail," Follow me!"
I'll speak this seriously, for example, about the national pension plan.
It's not cool to fuss about if we'd able to get it or not, " We should do something to change the system just for our kids to get the plan." I mean I want to be an adult who looks on the next generation tendarly and also want to throw an impertial pass to the children.
If there were a politician who issued this manifesto, I'd vote for it before anything else. (laugh)
The other day when I visited Paris, a French man laughed and said, " The rules are made to break, hahaha!" and it was a little culture shock to me.
We Japanese, don't have such a sence, or we tend to believe that we should obey the completed rules. But this French man's idea makes me aware that bad rules can be changed and then we can make better ones.
When we think about how we live in the times, I suppose men's consciousness would be divided into two ways, " to ride on the time" and on the other hand, "to make the time."
That French way of idea makes me positive to think that we can make the time easily. It is up to personal dignity whether you choose which way of two. Preferably, I'd rather be the latter.

because I don't see any other young stars in Japan have spoken of politics and education very often.
And every time I read his thought, I feel his depth.
