He is Vitas
Oh, there is a new MV from him finally called Lucia Di Lammermoorr. Watch it here. Thank goodness he has some more hair now. Good song! Alright, alright, watch this one instead. Vitas was in China doing a tour recently and he was also at a CCTV program singing live and this one here has Chinese subtitles of the meaning of the the song. Beautiful performance! This one here also has subs and he has longer hair. Don't worry about the youtube crowd thinking that he lip-synced. In China, it is illegal to lip-sync in live performances now.

I was introduced to this Russian artist a year ago and really enjoyed his very shrill soprano voice. But most of all, my children and I love his dramatics in his music videos. Every time he sings at the superhuman high pitch, he does something really weird. But for first timers, I highly suggest you watch the live performance of OPERA no. 2 which made him famous. That performance really shook me up as to my perception of what a male voice could not do.
I understand that he has been touring around Asia and becoming very popular too. Here is his official website where you could read about him and download his videos. And of course you could go to youtube and watch all of them too. Here's the live version of Opera no. 2.

He looks freaky in all his MV because he is out there to entertain our prosaic palate and he does it well. But watch his latest MV Shores of Russia 2005 where he is a normal guy with normal hair, he looks so wholesome....absolutely wholesome country boy. When I was young, I had always wanted to marry someone like him - foreign, tall, and good looking.
And it wasn't impossible because I hung out with British mostly since a young age. Man...wholesome looking guy!

I usually listen to his music when I need to shake out all the regular J-pop fluff and need something to really perk me up.
Lyrics: Opera no. 2
My house has been fixed
Inside is only me
The door behind me has been closed
The autumn wind kept rattling at the windows
Once more it made me sorrowful
Lightning of the previous night and the mysterious morning fog
The sunshine therefore became freezing cold
The pain of the past one by one attacks me
Let everything weave together
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
My house has been fixed
Inside is only me
The door behind me has been closed
The autumn wind kept rattling at the windows
Once more it made me sorrowful
That is my destiny, I can’t do anything about it
I cannot request from it
And I know, behind me
The wind starts to howl sorrowfully again
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Wooooaaaaaahhhhhhhh
